Area Yield Index Crop Insurance

This policy is designed to compensate the policyholder against loss of expected and agreed yield of insured crops. The cover perils include windstorm, excessive rainfall, frost, fire, flood, pest and diseases, suitable mainly for grain crops and some tubbers/root crops, with the sum insured depending on the Average Production History of the crops in the area, estimated input costs, farm gate price and number of hectares involved. The period of coverage is again from germination to physiological maturity of the crops. Claims are assessed based on the agreed and realized yield of the crops insured.
